Luis Priorities

Public Safety

  • Combat the rise in thefts and burglaries that have plagued many of our neighborhoods.
  • Build a fire-rescue training facility to ensure speedy response times for our firefighters and paramedics.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Keep our taxes and fees low to grow our tax base with sensible new residential and commercial development — and help stem the rise in housing costs.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability at City Hall so taxpayers know how their money is spent.

Affordable Housing

  • Promote sensible and affordable development to ensure our city’s desirability and financial stability.
  • Advocate for residents in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. to stem the cost of windstorm and flood insurance.

Stop the Trash Incinerator

  • Do everything possible to stop this insanely awful idea of building a trash incinerator on our border with Miami-Dade, and near endangered wetlands.
  • Advocate in Tallahassee on behalf of Miramar and our neighboring cities to keep trash incinerators away from residential and endangered wetlands.

Regulate Blasting

  • Do everything possible to stop rock mine blasting in Miami-Dade from ruining the quality of life for many of our neighborhoods.

Improve Traffic

  • Advocate for advanced technology to improve traffic flow.
  • Make biking a more convenient and safer option in parts of our city.

Education

  • Ensure our schools are safe and nourishing places of learning to attract more families.
  • Support school choice, including our many magnet programs, to give families and students more educational opportunities.
